Every protection assignment begins with a structured assessment of the client's requirements, environment and identified risks. Our operations team then develops a proportionate security plan designed around the client's movements, schedule, privacy requirements and level of exposure.
Before deployment, our team establishes a clear picture of the client's requirements, environment and identified risks.
The client's objectives and concerns
The nature and level of identified risk
Locations and environments involved
Expected movements and public exposure
Existing security arrangements
Transport and accommodation requirements
Any relevant family, corporate or event considerations
Required level of discretion and visibility
A written risk assessment is then used to determine the appropriate level of protection.
Step 2
Advance Planning
Where appropriate, advance work is completed before the principal arrives. This can include:
Venue and location assessments
Liaison with venue management and existing security teams
Access and egress considerations
Transport and arrival/departure planning
Review of foreseeable crowd, media or public-facing risks
Identification of suitable contingency arrangements
Coordination with the client's private office, PA, event organiser or management team
Operational information is shared strictly on a need-to-know basis.
Step 3
Officer Deployment
Officers are selected according to the requirements of the assignment rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Considerations may include:
SIA licensing and relevant qualifications
Previous experience relevant to the assignment
Professional presentation
Communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working with high-profile or private clients
Language and cultural requirements
Gender or other client preferences where appropriate
The deployed team receives a detailed briefing before commencing the assignment.
Step 4
During the Assignment
A designated team leader or duty manager oversees the operation where required. Depending on the assignment, operational management may include:
Maintaining communication with the client's nominated representative
Monitoring changes to the itinerary
Coordinating with venues, drivers and third-party security teams
Managing unexpected changes to movements
Maintaining appropriate incident and activity records
Escalating significant concerns through the agreed reporting structure
Maintaining continuity between shifts and team members
The objective is to provide effective protection while allowing the client to continue their normal activities with minimal disruption.
Step 5
Incident & Contingency Management
Protection plans include appropriate contingency arrangements based on the assessed circumstances.
Where circumstances change, the operational plan can be reviewed and adjusted accordingly. Any significant incident or security concern is documented and escalated through the agreed chain of communication.
Step 6
Post-Assignment Reporting
Following completion of an assignment, the operation can be reviewed through a structured debrief. Depending on the engagement, this may include:
Summary of the assignment
Significant observations
Incidents or near-misses
Changes made during deployment
Client feedback
Recommendations for future protection
Areas identified for improvement
Where required, a written after-action report can be provided to the client's authorised representative.
Discretion and Confidentiality
Discretion is central to every VIP Protection Services assignment.
We do not disclose client identities, private addresses, detailed movements, security vulnerabilities or sensitive operational procedures in public-facing case studies.
Case studies are therefore anonymised and written to demonstrate our planning, decision-making and outcomes without compromising client confidentiality.
What This Means for the Client
The result is a protection service that is planned rather than improvised.
From the initial consultation through to deployment and post-assignment review, every stage is designed around the client's individual circumstances, with proportional security, professional communication and confidentiality maintained throughout.
All operational examples are anonymised. Specific tactics, routes, locations, client identities and security vulnerabilities are deliberately withheld for safety and confidentiality reasons.
