VIP Protection Services has published a consolidated statement of the licensing, screening, insurance and compliance standards under which it operates, in response to increasingly detailed procurement questionnaires from corporate and family office clients.
“Buyers are right to ask. Anyone can print a logo on a website. What matters is whether every deployed officer holds a current licence, has been screened to standard, and is insured on the task you are buying.” — spokesperson, VIP Protection Services
The standards in force
All operational officers hold valid Security Industry Authority licences appropriate to their role — close protection, door supervision or security guarding — and licence status is verified before deployment rather than at onboarding only.
Personnel screening follows BS 7858, the British Standard for security screening of individuals employed in a security environment, covering identity, right to work, employment history and criminal record checks.
- • SIA licensing verified per officer, per deployment
- • BS 7858 personnel screening
- • Public and employers' liability insurance in force
- • Written assignment instructions for every task
- • Documented complaints and incident-reporting procedures
- • UK GDPR-compliant handling of client and assignment data
Why buyers should verify independently
The SIA maintains a public register allowing anyone to check whether an individual licence is valid. Clients are encouraged to check the licence of any officer deployed to them, by any provider.
Insurance should be verified by certificate, and the certificate should show cover appropriate to the activity being purchased — close protection, event stewarding and key holding are not automatically covered by the same policy wording.
Data protection and confidentiality
Protective assignments generate sensitive data: addresses, routines, family details and medical information. Handling of that data is governed by UK GDPR and by contractual confidentiality obligations that survive the end of the engagement.
Officers are briefed on confidentiality as part of assignment instructions, including a prohibition on any reference to clients or assignments on social media.
Continuous compliance
Compliance is reviewed on a rolling basis rather than annually: licence expiry dates are tracked, screening is refreshed on the standard cycle, and insurance renewal is diarised with certificates retained for client inspection.
Full details are available on the company's insurance and accreditations page.
